THE PICTURE IN QUESTION

An unfortunate
amount of publicity.

Trading Places is the 1983 comedy directed by John Landis. Eddie Murphy’s Billy Ray Valentine and Dan Aykroyd’s Louis Winthorpe III become the subjects of the Duke brothers’ experiment in exchanging social circumstances. The consequences are, from our perspective, rather poorly managed.

Ralph Bellamy plays Randolph Duke; Don Ameche plays Mortimer. Jamie Lee Curtis appears as Ophelia, and Denholm Elliott as Coleman. Their resourcefulness is acknowledged here with considerable reluctance.

A SMALL ARCHITECTURAL PARTICULAR

Philadelphia in spirit.
New York in certain rooms.

According to the American Film Institute, the Park Avenue Armory supplied interiors for the Duke offices and the Heritage Club. The family appreciates a room with the correct bearing, regardless of the forwarding address.
